During our recent visit to St. Croix, throughout the month of October, we had the pleasure of connecting with children and parents through dramatic readings of Anna and the Goat Foot Woman. Held at St. George Botanical Gardens, Undercover Books, and the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts (CMCArts), these events were brought to life by the co-authors, Angela Golden Bryan and Erin Shae Bryan. Their dynamic storytelling captivated young audiences and brought smiles to parents who fondly remembered hearing about the legendary Goat Foot Woman from their own childhoods. It was heartwarming to see how the story sparked a sense of nostalgia, bridging generations through shared cultural heritage.
At Juanita Gardine Elementary School, Angela gave a heartfelt reading to Ms. Davis’s third-grade class. The children were absolutely enchanted by the tale and rushed to hug her afterward, showing just how much the story resonated with them. It was a beautiful moment of connection and warmth that underscored the power of storytelling.
Parents and children alike expressed their joy in seeing the story adapted for today’s youth, complete with an uplifting message of gratitude woven into Anna’s adventure. This interactive resource helps children dive deeper into the story, creating a fun and educational experience that extends beyond the pages of the book.
